Isle of Klezbos - Quartet Special

Now celebrating the band's silver anniversary, NYC-based and internationally-touring Isle of Klezbos makes a rare Boston appearance having just launched their latest album, "Yiddish Silver Screen." Long a favorite at City Winery NYC, this is their City Winery Haymarket Lounge debut. This show will feature a quartet special including:

Debra Kreisberg - clarinet & alto saxophone

Shoko Nagai - accordion & keyboards

Eve Sicular - drums /bandleader

and guest artist Abigale Reisman - violin

Musical surprises TBA. The soulful, fun-loving powerhouse Isle of Klezbos has performed from Vienna to Vancouver since 1998, bringing a panoply of classic klezmer, stratospheric adaptations of Yiddish swing and tango, genre-defying originals, and classic folkloric tunes with enticing twists. Leader /film scholar Eve Sicular also liberates the archives for Yiddish soundtrack discoveries from 1932-1980, reimagined for stylistic reawakening. The ensemble and their music have also been seen and heard on CBS Sunday Morning, HBO's "And Just Like That," and the original "L Word" as well as in myriad documentaries and stage pieces. Their creative commissions have come via artists ranging from studio sessions for Grammy-nominated/platinum recording artists Scissor Sisters to Jill Sobule's own transformative version of "Yentl."
